Just got the news that the Giant of Hindustani Classical music, Pt Bhimsen Joshiji is no more.
My mind flashed back to the concerts I was privileged to attend.
Will we ever, in our lifetime, get to hear as great a singer?
I have my doubts-the passion, the dedication of geniuses like him is a fascinating story.

Though I dont listen to Indian Classical music, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi's Raag Bhairavi has left an indelible impression on me. I heard it as a tune at the commencement of some TV serial about 20 or more years ago, and cant resist it to this day....

We have all lost a stalwart.

(P.S: Just read in today's paper that he was a car aficionado... )

saw this post a bit too late. i Love his voice..but since i do not have much of a indian classical vibes, my only reference to his voice is his rendition of Jana Gana Mana in AR Rehmans audio cd...and its my reference track.
Amazing control and voice quality.
