Guys a beautiful article in the latest Stereophile newsletter.
Bhagwan appreciate your suggestion. I'm afraid not savy enough to find the url for the news letter! Do you know how to do it?

Hi Jeeves,

PLEASE Dont get me wrong, but I think that you are probably on the wrong side of the law for copying and pasting the Entire article .... EVEN though you have clearly indicated the source.

Some of the objections will probably go like this:

The article, posted on a website or in a Newsletter, is supposed to drive Traffic THERE... not divert it elsewhere.

The Website / newsletter probably carried Ads, which actually went directly or indirectly in paying for the prose. Since you have surgically separated the article from its surroundings; I suspect the law has been infringed.

The best way to draw attention of the forum to content is to list its URL, with your recommendation or a brief synopsis.

Please dont get me wrong... my intention is NOT to be negative....

ok, what's the title of the article? you can cite it exactly - there will be no infringement for doing so!
I can then try to put the url here. thanks!

Hi Guys
Its in fact the latest newsletter dated July 13th.
I guess the best way to read it is to subscribe to it..its free ....it's an article on experts by Wes Phillips.

Thanks Arjun!
this was certainly an enewsletter article as it was not in the July 06 printed version (if it was I completely blew by it! )

I can certainly relate to what Wes Phillips wrote! All my neighbours, colleagues & non-audio friends just look at me as tho' I'm crazy when I go into audio talk. I've stopped it for the most part & until someone shows real interest I don't bother talking audio - it's over most people's heads. Like WP wrote, 99% of the people think of music & audio gear like appliances. Wrong crowd to be talking hi(gher)-end audio!!

One of my very close friends, who loves music but is not into hifi, had visited my place recently. He came from my native. This was his first encounter with hifi. He loved the sound of it. But as I tried to explain him more and more about audiophile equipments...he suddenly asked me "Will the SQ be affected if I use a better battery with the remote ?" and he started laughing at me
Thats it, I got my first lesson.

Good article. I too learned my lessons the hard way. Nowadays if a casual listener asks me for advice, I just tell him/her the first decent brand that comes to my mind. That’s it. It took me a long time to realize that for most, a music system is similar to the washing machine or microwave oven that sits in their home. One more appliance.

And what happens when they ask us "Why not Bose?"

To most, I say that I can’t afford them. I like to see the satisfied grin on their face

As far as I have seen..most of the people who intend to buy and can afford BOSE wouldnt ask "Why Bose"...they would simply go ahead and pick it up as thats the best system in the world.

No, I DONT let that pass. Me thinks an informed person should atleast Point them the correct direction. Then its upto them to take a decision.

For such queries, I point out to them the difference between a 'Life style' Hi Fi Product, such a Bose and a Performance / audiophile product. A comparision with cars often get the message accross.

I alos realise, that more often than not, they WANT a lifestyle product, NOT an Audiophile product ... ( eg with their new Plasma TV )
