I'm with Anil on this matter - get a better quality MM that will read the grooves well & give you great music from your LPs. From personal experience: Goldring 1022 or 1042. These MM cartridges are simply superb. When I used to own a Music Hall MMF5, I had the Goldring 1042 on it & it was a delight to listen each time.
If you insist on a MC then, once again, Goldring. They make a series of medium compliance MC cartridges that are also well-priced. Use you favourite search engine to obtain their web address.

Hello,

I have been planning to gift a turn table to my dad in a couple of months or so.
I am looking for a relatively cheap eay to operate turn table with decent/good sound quality.
Have had my eye on the Music hall MMF5 for some time now.
ALso the Technics Sl-1200 series.

Any other turntables that i should consider in the same price range?

Also, do suggest reasonably priced phono stages. He will mostly be using old LPs and some new ones as well.

Please checkout the Project range too, they have some good performers in their range. RPM6 and above range, the Perspective are quality TT. I think that some of the Music Hall TT are made by Project.
