a good stereo system

hi Kishore, Manek from Bombay here. you did not mention cd player and cables so I assume you have the already.

A good entry level amp in today's market is NAD 320BEE.
50 watts per channel and an amazing performer for its price. Far better than any product sonodyne can offer today.
Would be available for about 19K.

Since you mention floorstanders...There are a few decent ones in the market. Jamo E850/E855 are extremely good for their price of 37K, available at cinebels in Bangalore. The bookshelf version of this speaker also is very nice.
Boston Acoustics also has good floorstanders for around 30K. Missions are also available for the price range but I found them too bright with Yamaha. They sounded better the NAD 320BEE.

A combination which I always recommend to all, is the one I own of NAD320BEE + Cadence Arita bookshelves. The combo sounds very good indeed. The Cadence Arita could be bought for about 36k.

Dont know if you would want to use bookshelf speakers but QUAD 11L/12L are also very nice.

If I were you I would look at the above and then decide. To my mind sonodyne does not match up to any of the above. In fact they dont go too low as well for floorstanders so you may find better performance in good bookshelves like the Cadence Arita and Quad 12L.

Since you are in Bangalore you might also visit PRO FX showroom and hear the KEF entry level products as well as their own pro fox branded speakers which are less expensive with denon amps.

2. wharfedale valdus 500
3.jamo e550/570(4 ohm)
4. mission m74i
5. profx h514

also are you aware of of any Nad dealer in bangalore. if i don't find one i have decided to go with yamaha ax496 amp.
what is your opinion of this amp?

Heard the wharfedale 8.4. did not like them to much.
Valdus is bad.
jamo E550/570 you could stay away from.
mission m74i is a decent speaker but i heard it with 2 to 3 yamaha amps and the combo was rotten. I heard them with the nad 320bee and nad 521i cdplayer and they were much much better.

havent heard the profx speakers yet but I was told they use a denon kit to manufacure speakers but then again denon is not known for its speakers...is it ?

If cost is a factor, the wnarfedale diamond is a viable option..it is good value for money

Else the mission should be good choice
Cannot comment on the Jamo but they have somehow not been doing as good in the Audio segment as they used to (Arent they more pricey than Mission ?)..Have no idea of Profx.

For an Amp..Nad320bee is the King of entry level amps and should be a very good setup along with both the wharfedale as well as the NAD.

For the time being would suggest to buy only entry level speakercable and interconnect..

BTW what are you going to use as the cd player ? the speaker/amp choices would depend on that depending on any future upgrade plans.

Sonodyne would be a good option if you want in the wall fitted speakers or even a Home theater..but the wharfedale diamond should be better for simple 2 channel audio

To be honest, in the diamond series I liked the 8.1 and 8.2 the best. In terms of price and performance 8.1 and 8.2's are good. But then again you are not looking at bookshelves.

Dont know if you can source Boston Acoustics. They make pretty decent entry level floorstanders at a very decent price. The CR range.
