Friends,
Lately I have been looking at some interesting speakers to which I can potentially upgrade. Harbeth is one of them.
Most of us know this brand but unfortunately I could not gather many listening impressions from here within the community. Internet is flooded with information about Harbeths and their philosophy, construction and voicing but still a listening impression is priceless!!

I do not know anyone here in Bangalore who has a Harbeth. Someone I know in Bombay who has one. So, until I get an opportunity to listen to them I have to make do with impressions I can gather from forums.

Please do share any first-second-third hand experiences, impressions you have about Harbeth speakers. Any model is okay. I am specifically looking at the Compact 7es3 but I am assuming all their models would in general share a family sound and characteristics would remain more or less similar.

regards
Abhi

Very, fluid voicing and sobre tone. Heard a set recently and it played classical music very even handedly. Generally all of the British wooden thin ply enclosures are best suited to classical.

Which model was it ?
When you say fit for classical...did you get a chance to play some other music which you thought was not portrayed well by the speakers ?

No only classical, and it sounded very musical.

The only speaker that I want so dearly..The Monitor 30. And man they are being sold at really incredible prices here in the US. SO tempting.
It has been a while since I last heard them. From what I remember I fell in love with it.

I do have an invite from a local stereo shop friend who has a pair to come over and listen.
Plan to go sometime soon before it gets sold.

Hi Sachi,
If you loved the Monitor-30, you should try and check out the Compact-7es3 and SHL5. From what I read, the Monitor-30 has a flatter sound but they also tend to sound drier and more like a studio stuff...the other two models I have mentioned are made for domestic use so they sound more fluid and musical.
Check them out and pleeeeese do post your feedback here.

regards.
