Lithos Speakers - Any comments

Heard them a few times. Sounds like a decent entry level system for HT.

If you want them for stereo application then their bookshelf and their mtm speaker would be the one to go for, not the sat/sub combo.

there was a review in av max.. dont remember which issue. the lithos bookshelfs got a decent review so maybe you should just hear them. i'm doing the rounds myself and one thing's sure. take everyone's opinion but decide for yourself. you'll be happiest that way and meet a lot of friends along the way!

yep...the speakers need to sound good to your ears. Every one hears differently and just becuase a speaker is expensive, it does not mean its good always.

Remember we guys just tell you our experiences, finally you will have to live with the system so you might as well live with something you like rather than something that others like. Its kinda like chosing a girlfriend or a wife. Better living with one of your own choice rather than others !

go with your heart buddy! the music system should move you. that's the only criteria. forget terms like soundstage, imaging, depth and all. if its a good speaker all these will be revealed plainly without effort. by the way let me know how the lithos were.

Hi steve, never beleive AV MAX they publish absolute crap, c'mon pal their review depends upon the size of ad a manufacturer chooses to pay for. manek is right,go by your ears. I've been sending mails to AV MAX to update their portal since 2 months and there is no reply.....thats not what a much acclaimed india's best mag should be.they need more professionalism.

I want to share a piece of info about AV MAX....i asked for subscription rates for AV MAX and they promptly send me the same for Auto Monitor .I used the subscribe link thru the web and a lady replies back asking for which Mag i was reffering to..c'mon guys when i clicked on the link 'subscribe''in the AVMAX site even a guy with littlest of common sense would assume that it's a request for subscription for AV MAX and not Playboy . I really don't know what the people over there are upto.They are so dumb and when i wrote back a strong mail asking for prices for subscription again (3rd attempt)there's no reply from 2 weeks. The website talks of Home theater speakers test from
2 months and i dont know in which issue it would appear or has it already appeared?? :|. i made a refernce about the misleading website to them thru a mail and what do they do n.?? no replies.!!!. I would expect maturity from AV MAX guys....and gals as well. A good mag..........but too much of fart in the content and management.have i left anything unsaid??

hmmm....thats probably one reason why its changed hands. They definately need to get their act together.

The reviews just dont relate to the ratings they give. Its so completely confusing. They rate a product 5 out of 10 and then they rave about it in the review text. Obviously they are playing to their advertisers whims and fancy's.
Their product guide is oh so out of date.

Wish someone were to start another rival mag.

Sterophile digital is a good option as a mag but will not have any INdian products/Dealer info
It ..around 15MB of download per moth and a price of 15USD per year.

15 mb of download per month thats quite a lot and it makes sense i guess and should be worth $15.

yeah the reviews are abso crap. the only thing good is the average guy like me gets to hear about new stuff. after listening to speakers and comparing the experience with their reviews i know that their reviews are amateurish. and coming from a guy who doesn't know too many technical terms that's quite strong!

to be fair to them i figure they're starting off relatively young.. couple of years under their belt and they'll get better with time. also i don't know if the reviews are tainted with advertising money spends or simply a skew towards affordable products for the common indian guy. i think its the latter. cos many times products that are not sonically good get better review ratings cos of the affordability factor. it may not be a good way of rating stuff but its their way i think. for example the b&w dm 303 bookshelfs got loudspeaker of the year. now for someone on a real tight budget the speakers are a good buy. (more on them on my post on speakers for nad 320bee). excellent even. but the cadence aritas beat them hollow. just that they're more expensive. so the b&w wins for complete package which is an averaging out of factors like sound, technology, price.

and yeah the website's outdated. takes a lot of effort to maintain an up to date site so don't be too hard on them. you're expecting too much from a non professional, fledgling mag

hi stevie, i think what iam asking is not too much than what they ask for 50 bucks a copy per month. If you feel they are more towards the affordability and they rate those models best then why do they always talk about Hi-fi's running into lakhs.let them write about other models which are more affordable.I really appreciate your view as that they are new and need some time to grow, but are they really growing is a question ringing over my head???. i feel it is not all difficult to update their website at least once a month and the content in website, absolutely nil.???Infomedia is a group which runs all flop mags like Auto Monitor which costs the same as Autocar or overdrive...and when you compare the quality and quantity of content and print quality.!!! you feel auto monitor feels like stale noodles...

growing or otherwise, You pay for quality !
it is not the duty of the readers to nurture a publication, but the initiative should be with the publication to ensure quality and high readership !

Ya you are right.they need to do things right if they gotta stay in the market or else get wiped off when a competitor steps in

totally agree with both u guys. but wot to do? no choice in the market. like manek i wish there were more mag options like abroad. and pro ones at that. sigh...

once a mag with professional reviews comes along there will go av max's readers. no doubt about it. some of the reviews are positively funny! the way they contradict themselves and weigh factors.

in fact i stopped subscribing after my subscription ran out. just picked up less than a handfull after that. giving them the benefit of the doubt and a little leeway that's all. i'm a nice guy!
