Hey Arj,
have read about all this stuff everywhere(diyaudio,Rod elliot's page,ecoustics,audioreview,avforums.....) but it is great to find one more source supporting what i believe in and what i have come to experience. maybe i will change my opinion again on certain things depending on the things that i may come to experience.
but i agree with the reviwer on almost all counts.
Thanks for such an informative article. it will surely help the newer members in staying away from cheats and unscrupulous elements which we find en-masse in the Indian audio market. everyone is out to screw the customer and they do so right to ur face.
neway, maybe the moderator can make some of the more informative threads like this and others permanent so that new members can quickly have an understanding of the audiophile world. even if it is just a glimpse, it will enthuse them to search for more info.
Cheers,
Ben

A good article just like benkenobi said that its everywhere anyone interested in music and who is an audiophile would have read this over and over again but my question is what does one do when he has got a really really good room close to perfection?, is it stupid to spend money on expensive cables, racks, speakers, amps, pre-amps, cd-players??

Would love to listen to what you guys think about this?

Satyam.

I would think Benks has made a very valid point above on his approach.

The above article gives a good approach to Begin ie start small and withinin budget listen and understand ones on needs and likes.. and then try to achieve the above perception !

The reason for controversies in Audio is that it is very personal. we talk of flat response curves in speakers, but the fact remains that Response curves of our ears (ie sensitivity to frequencies) is not at all flat ! and it varies from person to person hence perhaps the reason that the definition of good sound variezs so much..and the speaker contributing so much to the final sound.

Regarding your question of perfection, one point to remember and keep in mind is that it is the Music which should be the driver and not the Sound !
Hence if you have achieved perfection, spend you money on Music. there is so much to discover out there in terms of music..

well put Arjun.
i keep writing down the titles that i hear by chance and download the same the next day.
there is so much to music that most of the so called audiophiles start losing out on the enjoyment factor and worry themselves mad in trying to make their system sound Perfect.
Cheers,
Ben

benks...you are right, so many people have started to trip on the kind of sound their systems generate but forget about the music. There is so much beauty in old music which was recorded in the 40's and I still hear it often.

ofcourse, good sound goes a long way in appreciating music......

Its Music First for me......but whenever I listen to old stuff of the 40's and 50's, the great masters, I always wonder how that music would sound if recording technology were more advanced. Sadly when the greats were around in the good old days the recording tech was in its infancy and lacked the quality of today and now when the technology has come of age and is realy good, the artists somehow dont measure up to the old masters....! Sad isnt it !
