hi there,

I would suggest you opt for evo 1. IMO its a better speaker.
You could also consider Monitor Audio bronze 2 with the Nad
or the Marantz amp.

The AEGIS EVO One is a powerful yet compact, bass reflex ported, 2-way loudspeaker perfect for the smaller room environment and recommended for use on bookshelves or rigid speaker stands. Based on the original award winning AEGIS One, this 'Evolution' model now boasts a host of improvements to ensure this class leading monitor retains its market status.

I am unaware of the price points;

However, I suggest that you audition both & then decide.

BHAGWAN69

P.S. Maybe some dealer has both the products in stock & you could do an A / B before you decide.

I have heard the EVO 1 at my home perched on top of my old wharfedale diamond 8.4 driven by a NAD C350 amp. They are fantastic value for money speakers. Better mids and highs than the 8.4 and you really won’t miss a floor-stander unless you are a bass-head. But I felt it needed some power to open up. In fact it needed more power than the 8.4 to really shine although it was rated at 91 db or something.

Dear Square Wave,

Sir,

If the EVO 1 could not be driven by the NAD C350 then how does one expect the NAD 320 BEE to drive the speaker ?

Dear Vpriyan,

Sir,

Please do consider this very very important point that has been braught up by Square Wave before you decide in favour of the AE !!!

Regards,

Bhagwan69

P.S. Not that I am a great fan of B & W 303, but the B & w's surely have a greater brand presence & would be much easier to sell. This is from the up-grade point of view.

Dear Vpriyan,
Go in for for the EVO 1, its priced at Rs 17K approx with three years warranty. Reference point has become the new EPOS & CREEK distributor for India, I heard. Great now we can have more to the list.

Yes, the EVO 1 is a good compact speaker. Dunno about that "won't miss a floorstander" bit though. But then again, use your ears to decide.

I would be very surprised if a 320 could not drive any entry level speaker. IF not the speaker would not sell !

Most entry level speakers are designed to work with most commercial amps (Even Compos !) it is only at higher ranges that quirks and customisation in design really falls into place and makes them finicky.

Higher power would be required only if the Room itself is every much bigger as more power is required to deliver sufficient dB in a bigger room.
Hence Vpriyan couls you give us the room size ?
For anything upto a 15 x12 room the 320, I feel , should be enough.. But again u need to try it out a Square wave did not find that meeting nhis expectations.

YOu could even try out the INfinity Primus , if available in India. had a chance to hear that and was very very pleasantly surprised. in fact it is good enough to be driven by low power valves hence the 320 should be more than enough.

As mentioned by prithvi, Even the entry level EPOS speakers are giant speakers, so that is an option as well

Wow ! Epos and creek ! this is just awesome…….guess it is time to give venky a visit……..

Hey, the EVO1 can be driven to reasonably loud levels with the c350 but it needs some cranking to open up. Very good speaker though.

Sharing my experiences with EVO 1 and B&W303:

Listened EVO 1 with Yamaha and B&W with Denon. B&W303 was far superior in detail. Would suggest that you listen and decide.
