Hallo,

Does anyone have a clue what the difference is between a TH400 and a TH400C? I have the C-type; the internet yields that it's 'black and selected' but other than that I can't find anything. The specs quoted by the person I bought 'em from differ from the standard TH400 although I'm somewhat sceptical: 200W RMS, 3-85(!)khz..., 92db and 8ohms

Hi Simonix,

unfortunately I don't know the difference between TH400 and TH400C in particular either, however the specs are correct.
I'm myself an owner of the TH800 and both (TH400 and TH800) were basically developed for high-power ultra-sonic applications. The TH800 goes actually above 100kHz(!) with a much larger magnet compared to the TH400.
However the 200Wrms (without any further notes - like minimum cross-over frequency and measured according to ISO... or DIN...) is not only for the TH400 too much. Expect about 20Wrms for the TH400 alone. The 200Wrms value is valid for a complete speaker system (usually 3-way) and the power divides usually to approx. 60% for the woofer, 30% for the mids and only 10% for the tweeter. The thin foil with the voice coil on it would never be able to handle 200Wrms continuously, that's for sure!

Well, furthermore I do not know if this answer will ever reach you after this long time. Nevertheless if anyone finds it, it might be helpfull for the ones who still have one of the best tweeters in the world (according to my own opinion).
