It there any database with a good size of album cover's available for use...or for download against a fee.

I'm not using the right terms...as i'm a novice in this area.

Basically, i need a database of most western/indian albums that contains songlist and possibly image of the CD...something like the tool from apple that rips from CD and immediately gets the album details from some database.

I'm not just looking at using this database for ripping (which is anyway available), but i want to use this database in my own software for a different purpose.

Siva, do you mean

Freedb ?
you can download the database as a local version and then refer to it locally as well !! (Especially via EAC)all this is via the unique Discid

But this does not have the image...that is only possibe at Apple as even CDDB which is a commercial option to freedb does not have that to my knowledge..

Unfortunately apple does not accept anything other than apple lossless, MP3 or AAC formats to do the search

now you have me curious as to what you are upto ?

Thanks for the info.

Arj, Basically, i'm looking at a way for the transport to automatically match the content to a album cover and display the track details. I can also look into the possibility of provinding an net connection so that i can play HD content downloaded and look up into some online database. I think the freedb looks promosing.

Such architecture for the transport will also make it easy to control the transport module itself (CD PRO2). With falling prices of LCD touch panels, this should be an intresting thing to attempt.

BTW there is an HCL netbook with touchscreen available for 14K@ Croma...its a 7"screen, atom processor, swivel screen.

you should try the offline version of the freedb database. inorder to make it "update" its information you will need to run a unix/linux based freedb server.
