Hi,

This is an interesting amplifier. VERY powerfull retro with some thoughts on how to make a good Moving-Coil input-amp, how to conserve power and how to give excessive frequency response.

Here are some data:

Power-Output = 100W RMS minimum/8 Ohm, both channels driven, 20-20.000Hz with no more than 0.03% THD.
This is VERY good.
Frequency response = DC-100KHz +0/-1dB (Extremely good!)

The amp has a 'Pulse-Locked' power-supply. This is Sony's variant of a Switched-Mode power-supply with high efficiency. Nice, BUT.... after all these years it should be taken apart and re-capped (given new electrolytic capacitors). I suggest NOT to turn it on again before the power-supply is renovated in this way. If have very BAD experience with Sony Pulse-Locked supplys with defective capacitors (i.e. TAN-86). You wont believe just HOW much smoke will come from this kind of supply when it goes

hey,
thanks for your effort.
actually i just wanted to know sonething about the worth of the amplifier, cause i thought about to sell it.
i won't fix the problems of this amplifiers, for example the noise while turning the volume up and down.
maybe i can sell it as a collector's item, or to people who are able to fix this problems.
so what do you think about the worth of the amp??

Hi,

I have NO idea about what it can cost.
More, of course when it is renovated.
When it is in the condition you describe it should only be sold to someone who can renovate it, and who knows the value of this nice amplifier. But, will he pay a lot? Probably not
