hi guys,
What do you think is better in terms of more bang for the buck??? -->speakers made from DIY kits like from corrson which can be assembled with a screwdriver and a solder iron or a pair from brands like wharfedale etc.Im talking in the budget range of around 15K for a pair of bookshelves.

There have been discussions about this here but i think this is far more specific because we are talking only about the speakers and also within a budget.

The budget for the amp would be around 15k.which i think will be quite a process to construct from a kit.

If the kits are better which ones do you recommend??

if you hve the time and skill to asemble for the same price any good DYI kit should give you more bang for the buck.
another option is to search the web for designs and order parts separately to make them.

Yes, if you are getting the monitor series (not the TC series) kit from Corrson, its definitely better than entry level Wharfdales.

do you suggest buying parts seperately and assembling a design for a newbie??? and wrt kits is the ability to follow instructions and use a screw driver enough???

The corrson website does not show any information about the monitor series or do you mean the monitor series from acoustic portrait??
by entry level wharfedales are you refering to the diamond series??

just out of curiosity...how good is acoustic portrait??..they say they use vifa drivers...where can i get a catalogue with their prices??..it is not mentioned in their site..

As they say, 'Sauce for the Goose is NOT Sauce for the Gander"

EVERY individual has their own taste in Hi Fi.

Do NOT take anyone's word / recommendations as the buying pointer.

My suggestion is LISTEN to whatever you intend to buy, BEFORE buying iot.

That holds for a Kit or for finished products.

If you cant listen to it before buying, DONT buy it.

You dont want a speaker in your home that your friend likes, and you dont

I know that my advice may seem idealistic, but there is Really No Other way, unless you are a gambling man....

well Kits are easier since you get everything in one box.

Square_wave has an accoustic portrait speaker and appears to be very happy with them. He may guide you on this

Sivat is from Corrson. you can PM him for details on the kits.

Amp_Nuts point is not one to be ignored...in the end you have to live with them so whatever you buy please do try to make sure you have done the due diligence of listening to them

I'll definitely keep that in mind.
