Yamaha 640RDS

Hi,

I would suggest to pull the phono-plug from the Yamaha amp. and touch the end-pin with your thumb.
That should produce some loud >>HUMM<< from the sub-woofer if it works. Don't forget to turn it on manually.
If you don't hear any humm the sub is dead. If you DO hear something, your amplifier is not putting any signal to the sub-woofer output.
That could have several causes. The amplifier could be defective OR it needs a computer-reset.

Here is how to reset your 640RDS. Actually you DON'T HAVE A 640RDS. What you have is a RX-V640RDS I believe!
Do the following:

Reset to Factory adjustments:
1) Power Off
2) Press & hold -> 6CH Input + Stereo
3) Power On
4) In Menu navigate to -> Factory Preset
5) Select -> rsrv
Now your amp. has been reset and should work normally again.

I chose rsrv, but the sub doesn't work yet, but the sound around works alright, but how can I save this set, because when I exit the programm, everything is back to the old way again.

I'm sorry, I just had this piece of reset-information and no service-manual available.
NOW I also have the service-manual
Unfortunately it's BIG, more than 24Mb so it's impossible to send it to you by e-mail.
PM me with your e-mail address for a solution on how to get the manual. Writing what you need to do will not be easy and you will in any case probably not understand without the manual at hand.
It's rather complicated (...and I don't know if I understand it correctly myself )
