Guys,

I already have the Sony 575 DVD Player. My room is quite small (about 12ftx10ft). Which 5.1 AV Amp and speaker system would you recomend for this. Keep in mind that I would like to see more of jazz/soft rock/classical live concerts more than just movies (60/40).
I do not have much of a budget left ( after I bought my stereo system)but I want something resonably nice. More importantly a good value for my bucks.

Say about 50k,+/- 10%
Arj, I auditioned the new denon DVD with a inbuilt amp and the speakers. Sounded quite nice. The guy can give it at 47k. In which case I could put the sony dvd in my bedroom. I also tried the new Jamo dvd with integrated amp (not the DVR 50)and the jamo 210 speaker system. Also sounded good for the price (56k).
Ideal combo I think would be the denon dvd with the jamo speakers but the guy cannot break the denon package. He also showed me the same jamo dvd with integrated amp with another set of jamo speakers which he did not have but will get it for me tomorrow to audition which works out to only 37k. God knows how the speakers will sound.
Actually I want buying this for my kids, so I would like something not very expensive as they are only 10 & 8 yrs old.
Suggest me something that fits my budget.
Thanks always, Arj.

Hi Cheraz,

For kids, it makes sense to put a HT using wall mountable satellite speakers rather than space consuming bookshelf/florstanders. in fact for that room size a satellite speaker should do a pretty good job.
Both KEF as well as Jamo have pretty good small speaker HT.

The DENON setup is actually not too bad. you can also consider ONKYO's package for this as well.

Another setup, to add to the confusion is Nakamichis NIRO system. the best part of this is that it is a complete system for 1000 USD and uses just 3 speakers for a virtual 5.1. should be very good for a kids room as it is wall mountable as well.

Mission also has two sub sat setups and both are pretty good for HTs . I have heard the thin , flat panel NXT system and had almost bought it before i got a good sale on a Bose setup.

you can hook it along with any Onkyo/Denon/Marantz/Harman Kardon 5.1 receivers.which fir into your budget. even the enntry levels of the above are very good.

The BEST satellite HT i have heard is the Mirage OmniSat. with an amazing dispersion as well as a very wide soundstage due to its unique 360 degree dispersion. but i think the speaker+ sub package in itself is around 1000 USD.

Thanks Arj, you read my mind. I heard the Onkyo HTP-L50 package. Sound was big for satellite speakers. I think I will go for that. Thanks again.
