hello i was wondering if anyone had any information that could help me with a problem i am having. the problem is that on my stereo system one of my speakes fails to function properly. what exactly happens is that the right woofer doesnt seem to produce any sound whatsoever un less a slight bit of pressure is put apon it. when that pressure is place apon it it sounds perfect again. even laying the speaker on its back helps to produce the pressure. is the speaker blow???. any help would be useful as these speakers sound absolutly awsom. btw they are realy old kenwood speakers model ls - 60, they have an 9-10 inch woofer if i am correct.

any help will be greatly apreciated.

Hello damo!
I don't know if I understood you:
One of your speakers (or just it's bass-woofer) doesn't make any sound but is moving while playing?

Hi Damo,

just try a little test and connect the "defective" speaker on the other channel of your Amplifier.
Then you know at least whether its the speaker or something else in the chain.

When I had this problem, it was the relais contact within the amplifier. It had a bad contact on one chnannel and only when raising the volume came back to normal function.
Listening on low and moderate level gave always missconnection after a while and loss in sound.

If the problem goes "with the speaker" while you change then it may well be a lose connection on the crossover or a bad soldering of a cable within the speaker. Open it and have a look.

Cheers,
Axel

thnx for the replys um i found the problem. what happened is that the viabrations of the woofer had moved the wire to its extreems internaly where connected to the acttual speaker cone and that had caused a bad connection, thus when pushing down on the cone the connection would be made therefore return of the sound. so i have now rectified the problem by making a good connection again. work just like before :o)

ps no the cone wasnt moving without sound.
