Guys,

What will it be? A Rotel Ra-1062, Marantz PM7200 or a NAD?
Guys post your feedback, reviews and opinion of the above and share your expeiences on the same. So that all of us here could use some of the pointers before looking for the most popular models.

the cheapest one.. without the speaker they all are the same !

On a serious note, what speakers are u putting them along with ?
If they are Klipsch, Sub boss would say Rotel and I would say NAD and someone ese is sure to say Marantz !

since you could not go wrong with either 3, you need to take a guess here !

Are Rotel harsh ??
Can PM-7200 take difficult loads (and drive them well) ?
Has anyone noticed the Class A effect of PM-7200 ?
Is PM-7200 suited for all types of music ?

Point well noted Arj.. It depends on your listening prefernce and each has it's own strengths and waeknesses too..But among the three you've listed I would vote for 7200.

no rotels are not harsh but a tad bright...well not many have noticed the diffrence between class A and AB in 7200.Even without this gimmick it's a good amp.

It depends on how you prefer to listen first and then what kind of music you listen to..

Ya, but can it drive difficult loads well ??
Its rated at 95 wpc at 8 ohms which is pretty decent but does it have the current to drive the Klipsh or a Polk RTI kind of speakers ??

Why I mentioned these speakers in particular because they have multiple Bass drivers which requires good current to be driven well and reproduce optimum Bass. Can PM-7200 do it ??

Yes why not...Klipsch can be driven by any amp as it is higly sensitive..but to get the best a good one with heavy bal*s is needed. Polks are easier loads too and 7200 should do their job good...Try HK as one person whom I know uses RF5's with em and sounds excellent.

I have heard HK with JBL Northridge speakers, its harsh and bright, but Marantz has the best Mids and Highs in that price point. HK might be high current but the way it played the JBLs was pathetic. I dont know who was the culprit..

JBL was the culprit..it was like trying to ride a supersport 750 with korean made radials....

Sub,
how are you so sure about the HK ?? Have you heard them that elaborately ??
Moreover JBL northridge is said to be quite decent a speaker.
Also the latest HK stereo amps are not popular among audiophiles....still you say its entirely the JBL who spoiled the sound ??

hey benks JBL's are good actually but a serious suicidal mismatch with HK..but with Klipsch RF5's they are excellent...Abhi..majority of american brands donot belong to audiophile class..coz americans always want wretched excess stuff.

Is HK american ?
When I say audiophiles I dont really mean serious grade audiophiles but normal audio buffs who are into hifi.
Very rare discussions involve the HK stereo amps (recent ones). I really dont know why....
HK are more talked about in reciever section but not in stereo.

By and large, the Nads should give you most bang for your money because they don’t spend too much money on the looks. In this price range, I would suggest a C352 from NAD. As Arj said, you need to audition and decide what suits you. All are good amps.
