I do not remember what I had paid, I have the entire lot of what they had produced until 2005. Maybe I had it shipped to some family in USA & then it may have come by post, maybe they [RR] sent it to me, I am not sure. But the music is good and the recording is amongst the best I have heard. Top 5 for sure. So many greats they have produced, if only they recorded in Tokyo & Kobe etc.

| Thanks Bhagwan, Did some R&D as you suggested. Noticed that some samplers cost only 10$. The Burmester 3 is a bit expensive at 30$. I guess the recording quality is what you are after. As plenty of classical / jazz / country CDs are available in India for interested folks. | ||||

The Tutti is BETTER RECORDED than Burmester 3. It is never about the money. It is about the attention to detail & then the sellers 'ego' !! Tutti is a must buy !!! Burmester 3 is also good, but for classical I prefer Tutti !

Some weird marketing is going on in USA. Only retail location where the album will be available is WALMART!!! (at least for the inital few weeks) I think Walmart has already ordered 5 million copies of that album Restriction is there for online sell also. Even amazon is not selling it. Not sure what's the strategy for India but expect delay unless you are already seeing ads for the album.

That's commercial music for you my friend...and corporate branding... going by Hell Freezes Over's success, they may be expecting long queues in front of the music stores so Wal*Mart says get that queue on our doors, we are not selling too much music anyways... I wonder if their music would also taste commercial...maybe yes...

| Alvida-Ustad Vilayat Khan,2 CD set,Sony/BMG,N2R 0188 2, Rs 399. Acc to the blurb on the cover, the last recorded solo concert of the Ustad-he passed away 13 th March, 2004. An extraordinary album featuring an extensive write up abt Vilayat Khan ji, how he evolved into the greatest Sitar maestro the world has seen(sorry but in my opinion he's way above Pt Ravi Shankar Ji), his contributions, musically, technically, & technique wise in developing the sitar, etc. The music on the two Cd's is excellently recorded and contains material that at least I have'nt heard before-the ustad demonstrates his equal virtuosity in singing his bandishes & then playing them on the sitar,& more... For members who are interested in Hindustani Classical Music, this is a must buy, for nostalgic & musical reasons. [Beitrag von Kamal am 22. Nov 2007, 07:04 bearbeitet] | ||||

Speaking of cover versions, I have to say I've realised that -- just as in this case -- they are not always a bad thing. Two covers I've heard this year, both Leonard Cohen songs -- "Suzanne" by Nina Simone and "Hallelujah" by John Cale -- so utterly breathtaking. Sadly the rest of the songs on the Leonard Cohen tribute (very aptly and amusingly titled "I'm Your Fan") are very mediocre and the Nina Simone is not present at all, what a disappointment.

| "A saucerful of secrets" by Pink Floyd, their second album considered as one that pioneered progressive rock. Sounds old school on even on the CD, James Guthrie and Doug Sax has done a good job Any one having original Vinyl disc? It would have been interesting comparing it to the CD. Regards Anil | ||||

I first came across this track on the Burmester Test Disc # 3. Then I purchased the Naxos CD. Later I came across it on XRCD, so I got that too. Yes; It is a good 'test disc'

| Hi Arj, Wires are not hidden, the Monoblocks are right in front of speakers(hidden by the sofas). The balanced cable to Mono blocks runs behind the Left sofa and for the right CH crosses over through cable duct at the edge of the carpet. I'll send you a better photograph this one has no resolution Regards Ani | ||||
