Missing Kenwood in your List
The Question is, what Time and Money you wanna spend...

Erm, the Bose Studiocraft 300 ST are not the best Choice, I've got them here and they are a little bit hard at the Tweeters and not crafted very solid...

And sorry for my bad english...

Not a fortune - but it must sound really good - i have give you my actual equipment so everything would be compared with those i have.

TIME is not as important as final result.... (it may be even next year if i had look for sth rare....)

Just what is generally recommende or what models do you prefer... or what fro my list is good or crap and junk...

by the way what about HARMON KARDAN A 402???
looks cool...

hi,

the best vintage amp (solid state) i have ever heard is an early model by marantz, the 1200. sounds very "vintage", like a big tube amp. imho the sonics are excellent, i dropped it because i got my hands on a rare old fisher tube amp.

lots of controls, excellent phono stage, very heavy and solid. still made in usa. above all, looks great to me.

The two Sansuis you have mentioned are fine Amps. The 9900 is the better one. What's about Kenwood? KA 9100, KA 907, KA 600 - rae, expensive and extraordinary good. You should also consider Accuphase.

The Grundig SV2000 is a nice one - both in visual effect and in sound. But you should know, that its loudness-function boosts the bass frequencies quite a lot.

Hi,
all those amps above are fine performers,
each single one has its "own voice" and very special sonics.
But why not choose something unusual... ?

Lots of listeners in the world of audio forget
the great transistor amplifiers made by Kücke & Co in Wuppertal during the 80s and the excellent
Klein und Hummel transistor monoblocks and pres, intended for pure studio use...
The (rarer) Telewatt consumer solid state amplifiers made from 1967-1982, manufactured in Stuttgart by Saba and Klein und Hummel themselves (with real studio technology but simplified for most demanding consumer listeners) are also a real first class choice...you wont find better amps for the money...

If japanese audio is prefered
try Nikko Alpha and Beta (Pre and power amp), those are silk sweet, still very powerfull sounding amps from the mid 70s.. The earlier (70s) versions are the best...

If US solid state audio is preferred, try the huge Transistor amplifiers by HH Scott...
There was also a Scott "Alpha" and "Beta" series Pre and Power amp-just amazing linear sounding amps...

Best regards
Yorck

I suppose Nikko TRM-750 is not up to that standard..???
That Scott i was asking about?
And i curios about Onkyo A 5000.

I'm also considering REVOX A-50, SABA VS 2080 and that mysterious AIMOR OA-4100.

What do you think about them...?

Hi,
the saba is actually a Sanyo(as far as i know), and quite cheap. The 2160 or the MI 215/212 should be the better choice.

Perhaps you should do a closer choice of your favourite equipment ... (i - and i´m sure not only me - am losing the overview about what to advise or not)

Revox A-50 VS Harman/Kardon A 402

Ok, i've decided to buy as a my first trully vintage amp - as a "starter" - one of those two.... Price is almost the same - so what is your recomendation?
(H/K 665 wouls be nice but it's little to expensive at the moment... as for my father present Grundug XV 7500 with AktivBox'es seems a good choice...)

p.s. anyone heard of Basf D-6510 Amp and preamp D-6530- some not very close friend of mine wants to get rid of them...)

I personally would prefer the HK, but also the Revox isn't a bad choice.

So, question of personal taste rather than difference in "quality"...?

I would say. Moreover it is much more easier to get spare parts and service for the Revox - as still for the big Tapedecks.
