one other thing amps and speakers are key to any major differences in sound quality,,whether upstream or other ,
,my guess would be speakers then amps then sources then cabling,,
I should know ,,damn well changed my speakers 6 times in 2 years ,,now I really like mine with tubes,,but i heard another speaker that caught my fancy ,,and they are made near me,,
called focus audio,,very sweet sounding and fab imagery..
anyways ,,i finally realize no speaker is perfect they each have there plusses and minusses,,you just have to find one that plays to your own listening strengths,,does that make sense,,
but speakers do make the most difference in any setup..later

hey hsmraj,,,,too each his own ,,thats why forums like these are great,,but in a 5.1 set up,,the cables I mentioned above were each priced at less then 50 dollars,,and they will vastly improve sound quality over say lower end stuff,,such as monster or ultra link,,I know I tried ,,so some tweaks do make a difference,,and you are right about analog,,2 channel listening,,
much more information using a 2 channel setup then a digital set up,,,16 bit oppossed to higher definition with 20 bit..peace v

Dear vm8444, I am not passing any value judgements. As long as you are happy with your investment, I am fine with it.

At $3 per foot typical investment on a home theatre cables should between $200 and $300. Add another $50 or 100 for coaxial digital this is by no means a small investment for most people on this (as well as most other) forums.

Please understand that I am quoting results based on scientific tests. Matters of fact and matters of opinion should to be separated. In general when it comes to cables, I would only consider high end cables if
(i) it sounds better to my ears
(ii) the seller, manufacturer or some one with golden ears can differenciate between generics and high end consistenly.

I ended up having to invest more than what I wanted simply because of my location. If I were located in India, I would simply choose good quality generics. You are free to look into my system configuration from my profile.

I would be happy if you can point me to some objective measurements claims and research topics on cables without flaming me. Again as you said "to each his own".

ok ,I will check out your system..by the way ,,are you willing to rearrange your system for a better sound,,switching some gear at all..
but,,that first cable I mentioned at 3 dollars a foot can be had for quite cheap..
I did not say wire for all around[surround spk],,
just enough for say 3 runs to your front speakers,,only..
they also have a type2 model a little cheaper thats fine too..
the digital cable is 35 dollars..

Like Manek suggested...both are good. I have auditioned the 7600 and 9500 personally. And from that I can only think that the 9600 would be better. If budget is not a problem - go for the 9600..no two thoughts here.

Hi Guys/Gals,

I got the DV9500 instead, heard that this model is to be replaced by the Dv9600 and of course the DV9500 is very much cheaper.

Now am having the Marrantz 5500 as the AMP, for movies should I use the 5.1 channel analog inputs or just use the coaxial cable?

By the way i cant hear a difference when using the stereo analog output vs via the coxial cable.

Any comments and thanks a million again
