Hoffentlich hat das nun auch Auswirkungen auf 97". Genau diese Größe muss endlich massiv im Preis sinken, da die 98"+ LCD-TVs den OLED-Verkäufen zusetzen und weniger die LCD-TVs kleiner 85". Da kann OLED mit den Abverkaufspreisen immer noch gut mithalten.

LG Display gibt eine Warnung an Zulieferer aus, durch Datenlecks WOLED-Patente nicht chinesischen Unternehmen zugänglich zu machen. Damit ist sicherlich BOE gemeint, die ja eine WOLED-Pilotlinie besitzen und zuletzt an Samsung herangetreten sind um diese mit WOLED-Monitorpanels zu versorgen, worauf Samsung auch nach TV-Panels nachgefragt hat, weil die 8.5G-Linie in Hefei eigentlich für eine TV-Produktion ausgelegt ist.

One of the most important factors in achieving lifelike images on a display is its color gamut. Rec.2020, also known as BT.2020, is a color standard for UHD video defined by the ITU-R (International Telecommunication Union – Radiocommunication Sector).

Ob es bei WOLED 2026 dann zu einer weiteren Steigerung das Farbraumes kommen wird? Trotz der Rec2020-Anhebung beim neuen Tandem-Panel hinkt man ja noch QD-OLED und RGB-MiniLED hinterher. Beide Chinesen erwähnten WOLED bei ihrer RGB-MiniLED-Vorstellung gar nicht erst als Vergleichskandidat, sondern immer nur QD-OLED. Macht also wenig Sinn einen eigenen Schwachpunkt zu promoten, wenn man da nicht selbst eine Führungsrolle einnehmen könnte.

80% Marktanteil mit OLED-TV-Panels für LG Display:

In particular, growth in OLED TV panels, where LG Display holds more than 80% of the total market, is expected to stand out. OLED TV panel shipments are projected to form at 8.73 million units next year, up 11.9% from 7.8 million units this year. In April this year, LG Display fully exited the large liquid crystal display (LCD) panel business and reorganized around OLED.

Dank endenden Abschreibungskosten werden auch die großen OLED-Panels immer günstiger.

It is also positive that most of the depreciation recognition, which can secure cost competitiveness for OLED panels, is nearing completion. According to the display industry, depreciation recognition for LG Display’s Paju OLED plant will mostly end this year. At the Guangzhou, China, OLED plant, depreciation recognition for more than half of the facilities ended in July. By around the end of the first half of next year, depreciation recognition for the remaining production lines will also be wrapped up, creating a structure to secure cost competitiveness.

Ricky Park, senior analyst in Omdia’s display research, predicted a decline in TV prices as depreciation ends for 8.5-generation OLED plants, saying, “As production cost reductions get into full swing, consumers will be able to enjoy large displays at attractive prices.”

Schaut so aus, als ob LG Display auf Tandem WOLED umstellt und das EX-Panel ausläuft.

Apple soll bei LG Display und Samsung Display nach der Panelproduktion für ein 24" iMAC-OLED-Display angefragt haben. Die aktuellen FMM-Techniken mit RGB-Bauweise funktionieren nur bis Tablet/Notebookgröße. Es wird erwartet das LGD und Samsung Display mit WOLED und QD-OLED reagieren werden, da es für die große Menge noch keine reine RGB-Alternative zu dem geplanten Veröffentlichungszeitraumes des iMAC mit OLED-Panel gibt. ELeap womit LGD experimentiert, steckt noch in den Kinderschuhen. Damit Apple den OLED iMac in 2028/29 auf den Markt bringen kann, müssten die Panels schon sicherlich ein Jahr früher in Produktion gehen.

In dem Artikel steht (leider gibt der Poster keine Quelle an), dass LGD schon an einem 5-fach-WOLED-Stack arbeitet (zusätzlich nochmals Grün) und man zudem noch auf Top-Emission wechselt. Das würde zu dem Omdia-Artikel passen, dass man an einem Polarisationsfreien WOLED-Design arbeitet, was m.E. auch TopEmission voraussetzt.

Apple's recently requested specifications for the iMac OLED are reportedly a 24-inch model with a brightness of 600 nits and a pixel density of 218 PPI (Pixels Per Inch). Key specifications for the already-available LCD iMac include 500 nits and 218 PPI.

LG Display is likely to respond to the iMac OLED with a 5-stack (BGBRG) W-OLED instead of the 4-stack (BGBR) W-OLED that has been in mass production since this year. The 5-stack W-OLED, currently under development by LG Display, could also increase brightness compared to existing 4-stack products by adding a green (G) layer.

LG Display is also known to have considered converting its back-emitting W-OLED to a top-emitting form factor. Current W-OLEDs utilize a back-emitting structure, with light directed toward the thin-film transistor (TFT), which presents a weakness in aperture ratio (the ratio of the area of pixels that actually emit light). Samsung Display's QD-OLED is a top-emitting product, with light directed in the opposite direction from the TFT.

The two panel manufacturers are reportedly considering responding to the iMac OLED with large-size OLED technology for the time being, but also with RGB OLED in the long term.

The 24-inch iMac OLED is larger than these products and will require additional technological development.

LG Display is testing so-called "eLeap" technology, which does not use FMM. This technology has not yet been proven for mass production. Samsung Display has also purchased eLeap-type OLED deposition and patterning equipment from Applied Materials (AMAT) for research and development purposes.

Apple reportedly plans to complete development of the iMac OLED panel by 2027 or 2028. The release of the finished product is expected to be later than that.
